Acadia Farms Pty. Ltd. is a family owned business, located in the Ord River Irrigation Area in Kununurra, Western Australia.

Our Story

Katrina and Chris' young daughter is sitting on her dad's hip and biting into a quarter of a juicy, pink watermelonThe business is operated by Chris and Katrina Jowett, with their two young children.
Chris’ family are generational farmers; his grandfather pioneering the beautiful self-mulching black soils on the Darling Downs since 1943. After schooling Chris went on to complete his trade in cabinetmaking, but the pull to get back to farming was too great. Chris spent a number of years in dry-land cropping and beef cattle production on Queensland’s western Darling Downs.

Chris and Katrina are kneeling in front of their paddock with their two small childrenKatrina grew up on the family dairy farm which is also in the Darling Downs region. The farm has been passed down through generations since 1926 and is still run by her parents and brother today.
Katrina worked in the family business until she married and an opportunity arose for her and Chris to move to Kununurra.
The move across the country was only intended to be for 9 months, but like so many in The Kimberley, they fell in love with the area. An opportunity to be part of agriculture in Northern Australia arose, which is when they decided to make the move permanent and start their own farming enterprise.
